Farm Stock Scotland are delighted to announce that Lucy Bell has agreed to formally cover a proportion of Vicky Warcup’s maternity leave this Autumn/Winter. Lucy first began working with Farm Stock on a part time basis in October 2022 on the back of a week’s work experience with the farmer owned marketing co-operative.
Vicky Warcup, Business Director said, “I am extremely pleased that Lucy has agreed to cover a proportion of my farm visits during my maternity leave. Over the last two years she has demonstrated her excellent livestock drawing skills and a very good eye for selecting a wide variety of stock. Our Border farmer members have got to know her during her training and she has all the skills and livestock knowledge to maintain our high levels of service.”
Lucy added “I am absolutely delighted to be stepping up, I have really enjoyed meeting farmers across the district and learning from the Farm Stock team over the last two years”
Lucy currently farms at Roxburgh Mill near Kelso in the Scottish Borders alongside her Father, Rory and two older brothers. The farm at home consists of beef, sheep and arable, running pedigree Simmental cattle and Texel sheep. A further 1800 acre hill farm, Plenderleith near Jedburgh is also part of their business, made up of Luing cattle and Blackface sheep. When she is not helping out on the farm or with Farm Stock Scotland, she is usually on the golf course or taking part in the local Young Farmers Club.
