Farm Stock Scotland are delighted to announce that we need to recruit more members to supply prime lambs to meet increased abattoir demand. Alex Norval, Assistant Procurement Manager for Farm Stock Scotland explained that, “In the last year we have started to supply two additional abattoirs with sheep and as a result require more lambs and prime ewes to meet existing and new orders in the festive run in.”
“In addition to standard weight lambs which typically weigh 16-22kg deadweight we need light weights for exporters to Portugal, Spain and Italy (10-16kg) and heavy weights 23-27kg dw for specific catering processor contracts.” “New for this year we also have strong orders for light-medium ewes as well. All sheep must be farm assured, either by QMS or Red Tractor”.
