Farm Stock Scotland Limited is delighted to announce the promotion of Jonny Williams to lead the business going forward.
As Scotland’s largest farmer owned marketing co-operative of its type trading in Scotland and the Northern of England, Williams has been with the business since 2012 and has been instrumental in helping lead the business in terms of increased livestock volumes traded and improved profitability. His promotion reflects the co-operative business’s commitment to nurturing leadership talent from within the business.
Based in the Scottish Borders and operating throughout Scotland and now Northern England, it is owned by five regional livestock marketing groups. With well over 400 participating farmers, Farm Stock handles large numbers of prime cattle, sheep and cull stock on a deadweight basis as well as facilitating farm to farm store sales.
With an impressive 23 years of experience within agriculture/red meat supply chain, Jonny sits on a robust farmer board which includes Chairman Robert Hall; Andrew Tullie, Ali Gordon; Michael Shannon; Neil Cameron; Marcus Maxwell, John Wildman, Colin Mair and Kev Bevan.
Jonny explained, “Since I started with Farm Stock 12 years ago I have always coveted the role of Managing Director and I am keen to continue to lead and build on the firm foundations the whole team has helped to build in recent years”. He added, “With a great team around me, members consigning more livestock through the business and stock prices at record levels it’s a very exciting time to be in business”.
Along with Jonny stepping up, Alex Norval and Nikki Gilbertson are also taking on more responsibility within the business. The appointment of Jonny is part of a broad strategy by Farm Stock Scotland to wherever possible to develop and promote leadership from within, ensuring continuity and sustained business growth.

Based in the Scottish borders and operating throughout central and southern Scotland, it is owned by five regional livestock marketing groups – Scott Country Lamb, Lothian Lamb and Beef, Galloway Lamb, Ayrshire Country Lamb and The Milk Suppliers Association. As a farmers’ co-op Farm Stock’s role is to ensure that producers achieve the highest possible net returns by maximising livestock prices and by minimising marketing costs. Prime stock are marketed on a deadweight basis to a UK wide network of abattoirs and store and breeding stock are traded direct from farm to farm.
