Good Morning Members!
Autumn has fairly rocked through the door this week, with Kelso tup sales behind us, the autumn has landed in a flurry of leaves wind and rain! Kelso was a great success for us, with many customers coming to see us for cupcakes, strawberry tarts and coffee! It was great to see so many people and be involved in such a country wide event.
Cattle
Prime cattle are sitting relatively still at the moment with outlets paying around 645ppk.Demand will increase as the year moves towards Christmas, many outlets have started to talk about Christmas kill, As numbers tighten will the trade start to rise..
Cow prices are cruising along in the 545-560 base. These higher prices look set to stay going forward, with a record number of females being killed, so reports read this week. Dairy cows are up to 10ppk behind their beef counterparts, but still coming to good money.
The demand for store cattle is hotting up again with people looking to start filling up the sheds as the winter approaches, heavier store cattle are coming on thick and fast with spring born cattle from spring 24 coming into their own.
We have increased requirements for beef x dairy calves coming on all the time, if you have any please get in touch.
Sheep:
Sheep trade has settled in around the 640-660 mark depending on, weight, location and spec. with many people on a standstill from Tup sales or breeding sales this week, leading to slightly less lambs coming forward for the week coming pushing the price up.
We currently have good demand for ewes, which with a number of different outlets handling them we hope to increase ewe numbers going forward, so please get in touch with us if this is something you would be interested to know more about.
We have store lambs of all shapes and sizes coming on at high speed, if you’re looking to sell or buy please get in touch
Organics

Organic fat lambs are coming forward thick and fast now, leading to the trade coming back ever so slightly, with the premium resting about 10ppk above the conventional trade. Organic store lambs available, Organic lambs into four outlets this week.
Cattle
Organic prime cattle are still paying well with the premium stretching up to 730ppk. There is a waiting list to get them away now, so please bear that in mind when booking in and lead times.
