Cattle

Prime cattle continue to remain in short supply in the last week with prices continuing to rise and rise with base prices starting at 605-630p in the last week depending on location and specification.

General feeling is that prices will continue to rise in the short-medium term.

Cows continue to rise, possibly faster than clean cattle with good beef cows now in excess of 500p. Cull dairy cows urgently required weekly to meet demand.

Sheep

The lamb trade has crept up slightly in the last week with slightly more demand than in the previous week with lambs trading 680-730p depending on location and spec with some firms putting money in as the week has progressed.

Firm demand going forward for lambs in the run up to the Muslim festival at the end of the month.

Organic

Organic cattle continue to stay ahead of the conventional price with quotations now in excess of 700p for the coming week, more sought after going forward.

We have strong demand for organic lambs this week with strong premiums of 20-30p available. Please get in touch if you have any ready.
