Eilidh is back from maternity leave

We would like to warmly welcome Eilidh back from her maternity leave. “I’m glad to be back and it’s definitely a very impressive trade to come back to. Please be patient with my first attempt of a report since returning and get my brain back up and running. I look forward to catching up with you all and if there is anything I can do to help then please get in touch.”

Cattle

Prime cattle continue to climb with base prices of 645 – 650pkg and Angus’ sitting at 655-670p/kg.  Premiums are available for full loads of one pickup. It’s unclear when the rise will stop. Coming back to this trade is undoubtably very impressive and very welcomed by those selling cattle however the huge question being raised is the sustainability of the price and if there will be casualties along the way.

Cows again continue to rise to 505 – 525p/kg depending on quality and type. We have strong demand for all types of beef and dairy cows from up to 10 abattoirs every week. More wanted every week.

Due to the knock-on effect from the prime, store cattle are also at an all-time high! We have a long list of orders for all types of stores – forward, Angus and grazing cattle. We are heading into a very busy few weeks of marketing store cattle from farm to farm so please contact us with any questions prior to needing cattle away. When considering how to market your store cattle please be aware of our very competitive commission rates and the transport savings involved with marketing farm to farm.

Sheep

The demand for hoggs appears to be easing off slightly this week. Things are definitely looking a little stickier in terms of moving sheep due to some abattoirs simply not looking for large numbers at the moment. Hoggs in the last week have traded between 700-740pkg base. We still have some jobs for light lambs, demand is dependent on the week with base prices of up to 700p/kg.

We are still moving a number of stores at the moment out of all areas.

Organic

Organic cattle are still in very strong demand but as prices are very variable between firms, please get in touch with your fieldman for more information. Urgent requirement for organic store cattle, more required every week.

We continue to have strong demand for organic lambs in the last week with a premium of 30p. More required please get in touch.
